Live. Love. Go. Travel!

My husband and I have been together for 26 years and married for 22 of those years. Our son was born one week before our first wedding anniversary. Our daughter was born two and a half years later. I feel like we’ve always been a family with kids.

We are now beginning the journey to “empty nesters”.

Come Fall 2022, both of our children will be away at college. Days will no longer be filled with making sure our high school senior is out of bed and getting to school on time. Evenings and weekends will no longer be filled with cheer competitions or making sure our kids get to work on time.   While this is an exciting new adventure, it is also heartbreaking.

What will we fill those days & weekends with now? How will we fill the void of not having our kids home all the time? How will we battle the sadness we will feel when there are no cheer comps or work schedules or early mornings with cranky teens? How will we navigate the world of 3 or 4 becoming a world of 2?

We have lived the life of dedicated parents. We have shared this life with our friends, our neighbors, our families, and our amazing kids.

We have dreamed of the empty nest days. We have dreamed of lazy weekends, road trips to not so far away destinations, exploring the college towns our children will be in, an afternoon trip into NYC, or a weekend get-away to a foreign city.  We have dreamed of traveling!

And now is the time to GO!

Travel has always been a passion of mine. We would travel to Walt Disney World every year or take a family cruise or go on a beach vacation.   In June, we will be cruising the Mediterranean with our daughter (our son has chosen not to join us in favor of an internship.) Now we will begin traveling as a couple!

Traveling as a couple is not new to us. We have gone away each year for our anniversary. Sometimes it was a trip to Cape Cod while the kids stayed with my parents or as they got older a night away while they stayed home with the dogs.

So, where to next? We are not sure but you can bet we will be visiting places we’ve never been and revisiting old favorites.

We’ll be living, dreaming, going, traveling!
