My Top 5 Must Have Carryon Items
I fly multiple times per year. Sometimes I fly domestically and other times my flight is international. But no matter where I am flying to, these are the things I never leave home without!
- A comfy Sweater/Sweatshirt – It may be 100 degrees outside but I can guarantee you it will be cold on your flight. Currently my favorite sweater to travel in is from the Snooki Shop. Yes, that same Snooki from Jersey Shore fame. But when I tell you this sweater is so soft, warm, and cozy, I don’t know how I ever traveled without it!
You can find the Snooki Sweater on her website.
- My Apple Airpods – I tend to call these “earpods” but whatever you call them, I have to have them when I fly. I like to listen to music while I read on my flight. But you’ll also want them if you download your favorite podcast or download your favorite shows to your ipad. Some airlines now offer Bluetooth connection for their in seat tv screens.
You can purchase the Airpods from Amazon.
Tip: Make sure you download the podcast or show when you are at home. Even if you pay for the wifi on the plane, it might not be strong enough for downloading.
- Kindle Paperwhite – I love to read when I am on a plane. I pop in my “ear”pods and open my current book of choice on my Kindle.
Tip: I don’t like the Kindle Fire. The glare makes it impossible to read outdoors.
Here are a few of my current favorites:
– The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab
– The Midnight Library by Matt Haig
– My Dear Hamilton by Stephanie Dray
– Fairytale by Stephen King
You can purchase your new Kindle Paperwhite here.
- Soft Socks (as I call them) – My feet tend to swell when I fly. So, I don’t like wearing sneakers or closed-toed shoes on the plane (I have TSA pre-check so I don’t have to take off my shoes to walk through security). BUT I also don’t like my feet just hanging out and getting cold & dirty. The socks don’t have to be fancy and I actually like them slightly thinner so I can slide my feet into my Birkenstocks if I have to use the restroom.
Here’s an option that I like. - Travel Blanket – I have several different blankets and depending on how long the flight is, depends on which one I’ll bring. But as I mentioned, flights are always cold and I am always freezing. I put on my “soft socks” and I pull out my blanket even before we’ve taken off!
Lightweight option for short flights
Heavier Option for longer flights
Bonus: I also fly with a travel pillow. I don’t like the big, bulky options or the blow-up ones. The one I have is soft and not too big. I have had it for years and it is still super comfy.
This is the pillow I have.
